Yes, we made it! We are in Vienna with more than one schnitzel in our belly, a few glasses of Grüner to lubricate our cheer, and surrounded by both old and new friends. This is the very moment when the entire conference comes into fruition, and our year long efforts come together in perfect unison (we’re all about positive thinking). But before we get our social media groove on, we want to import some important information for everyone to keep note of.

For those of you not with us in Vienna

We have a special live stream that will be running the majority of the event located at http://bit.ly/EWBCLIVE and will show, at the very least, the keynotes so that you can stay on top of the valuable content! That said, getting this to work is more of an art than a science, so bear with us as we do our best to make it a reality. Hopefully this will be a fun place to see the latest news and updates from all the mad twitters at the Orangerie and Schönbrunn Castle!

For those of you who are attending the #EWBC 2010

You made it! You’re here! And you’re probably already having way too much fun to bother reading this! But if you do please help us out and make sure to tag everything you put online with: #EWBC, #EWBC10 or go full out and add it all: European Wine Bloggers Conference. You can also share the live feed: http://bit.ly/EWBCLIVE

All the wines you taste should be listed here: http://bit.ly/ewbcwines, or if you’re on a small screen: http://bit.ly/ewbcMW. Thanks to Adegga, and the power of the AVIN in helping us to make sure that you know what your tasting at all times! Please leave notes on Adegga so that we can see what people are tasting and what “winners” you find. This archive is permanent so you can go back after the event and use the list to research content for future stories! Also, if you have a mobile device with applications, we have placed QRCODES on many of the wines at the exhibition.

Finally we just want you to know about who to talk to if you have a problem. The participant packet if you lost it, or need a new copy, is located HERE

Otherwise Ryan, Gabriella, and Robert can help with any questions, along with our fabulous volunteers: Helena and Veronique. Please fire away!

So have fun, meet new people, ask lots of questions, and remember, we’re all here to share ideas and build links that go beyond our normal comfort zones!!!

Cheers, The #EWBC 2010 Crew

Ok, now that I reread that headline, I have to laugh. It looks like a foreign language, and in all reality, it is. And some of you will get the odd characters and overall meaning, while others…not so much.

But what should you derive from this bizarre headline? Get on Twitter!! And, if you are on Twitter and you want to talk about the EWBC (European Wine Bloggers Conference), add a hashtag!

Example of a Tweet on Twitter:

European Wine Blogger Conference announced for Lisbon, Portugal #EWBC

Hashtags (words on Twitter beginning with #) are temporal and relate to a event based on time. We use hashtags to easily categorize information so that we may search for it quickly and easily.

What Hashtag Should be Used for the EWBC on Twitter?

The issue being, there are a wide range of options of how we can categorize information related to the EWBC on Twitter, but it’s best if we all agree on one. So rather than have the hashtag related to a year (ex. #EWBC 2009), whereby splitting up information over the course of time, we propose using #EWBC for all of our tweets related to the event.

What do you think? Mind you, it’s best that we choose are strategy now before we get too far into planning everything! Plus, the sidebar to the left is displaying all the latest #EWBC tweets that go out.

And if you’re still completely confused about hashtags, read this: http://twitter.pbwiki.com/Hashtags
